Not Your Average Horse Show
With a wide range of added activities, there's more to the AjPHA Youth World Show than just great competition!
For exhibitors and spectators alike, one of the best aspects of the World Show happens outside of the arena. Through the years, the event has grown to include a wide variety of social and competitive activities in addition to the main classes. Whenever you need a break from showing, you don't have to look far to find something interesting to do with old friends and new ones you'll make along the way.
Youth World Show Boot Camp
Thursday June 21 – 8am to 5pm in the John Justin Arena
Open to the first 20-25 youth! APHA Professionals will provide hands-on instruction in showmanship, horsemanship and equitation in preparation for your World Show experience. Entry fee is $50 per person and entry forms are due to APHA by May 1. For more information, contact the Director of Youth Activities at (817) 834-2742, extension 436.
Youth Team Tournament
Intended as a creative and fun way for AjPHA youth to compete both on and off their horses, the Team Tournament features four team-oriented events: Hippology, Parade of Teams, Knowledge Relay and Performance Classes. Colors of the West Gift Show
Saturday, June 23 – Saturday, June 30 – Open Daily 9am to 6pm
Everything that's Western! Shoppers will find everything from trucks and trailers to hats, boots, show clothes, horse care items, jewelry, leather goods, and all items pertaining to the Western lifestyle. You will also find official show merchandise at the APHA General Store - be sure to plan plenty of time to shop!

AjPHA Judging Contest Presented by Hart Trailers
Sunday, June 24 – 8:30am in the Will Rogers Coliseum
Awards breakfast on Monday, June 25 – 8am in the Round Up Inn
One of the most successful events for youth, the AjPHA Judging Contest is expected to draw 100 teams. Youth entered in this event judge halter and performance classes. Contestants evaluate four horses in each class. When the youth have finished judging all classes, a panel of judges review the placings and listen to oral reasons from each youth. Hart Trailers will present a $500 scholarship to the high-placing individual in each age group. For more information, contact the Director of Youth Activities at (817) 834-2742, extension 436. AjPHA National Convention
Monday, June 25 – 8pm in the West Sale Arena
All youth are invited to attend this important meeting that addresses the issues directly affecting AjPHA members. Officers for 2012-2013 will present their election speeches. Come be a part of the AjPHA decision-making process.
Championship Dog Races
Wednesday, June 27 and Friday, June 29 in the John Justin Arena
AND THEY’RE OFF… Does your pooch have a little spring in his step? Plan on entering the World Championship Dog Races! Rules and entry forms will be available in the Horse Show Office.

Gist Stick Horse Contest
Tuesday, June 26 – John Justin Arena
In this class sponsored by Gist Silversmiths, youth age 7 and younger demonstrate their ability to correctly handle a Paint Stick Horse at a flat-footed walk, a ground covering jog/trot, and a rhythmical two-beat lope/canter. Judges also consider the exhibitor's costume. To enter, visit the Horse Show Office.
Coloring Contest
Youth 7 & under can demonstrate their artistic skills in a Coloring Contest.
Youth Versatility Challenge
Saturday, June 30 – John Justin Arena
This exciting class will showcase the versatility of AjPHA members and their American Paint Horses as they compete in four classes: Hunter Under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Reining and Barrel Racing.
