Newly united, Tasha Gibson and Tes Kee To Success proved their skills by winning a world championship in Novice Youth Pole Bending.

Tasha Gibson and Tes Kee To Success turned out a success.

Tasha Gibson, a 17-year-old high school junior from Olathe, Colorado, and 2002 bay tobiano gelding Tes Kee To Success ran the fastest time in Novice Youth Pole Bending, earning them their first Youth World title. Attending their first Youth World Show, Tasha and "Radar," trained by Sandi Morgan of Provo, Utah, became a star after only two months together.

Q. Congratulations! How does it feel to be a World Champion?

Tasha: It feels awesome!

Q. Is this your first World Show?

Tasha: Yes it is.

Q. Can you tell me about your horse this morning when you warmed up?

Tasha: The warm-up was really good. When he got over here, he started getting a little bit nervous, but so did I. But he knew what he was doing and he did his job.

Q. Were you more nervous or excited when you went in the ring?

Tasha: At first, I was more nervous during barrels, but with poles I was more excited.

Q. Why do you feel more confident in poles instead of barrels?

Tasha:
He’s a better pole horse and I like doing poles better than barrels.

Q. Can you tell me about your horse in three words?

Tasha:
Simply the best

Q. Can you tell me about his personality?

Tasha: He’s really fun. He’s not really crabby. He gets nervous, but I do too so we’re kind of the same. We match.

Q. What are your plans now that you’re a World Champion?

Tasha: Come back and try to do it again next year.

Q. How long have you owned this horse?

Tasha: Two months.

Q. What have you done to prepare for a world championship in two months?

Tasha: Lots of practice. We’ve gone to a few gymkhanas, but this is the first real show.

Q. If your horse could be a celebrity, who would he be?

Tasha: Definitely Zac Efron because he’s hot and he’s [Radar] a cute horse.

Q. What’s your favorite color?

Tasha: Probably yellow because it’s bright and exciting.

Q. Have you had a chance to sample World Show food and find a favorite?

Tasha: The baked potato is my favorite.

Q. Do you have anything to add about your new World Champion win?

Tasha: I’m just really excited and happy.
